This umeshu has a sweet and fruity flavor and the alcohol taste is not persistent.
Umeshu is made by soaking unripe Japanese plums in alcohol and sugar to allow the flavors to infuse; some bottles even come with the whole plum still inside! This type of alcohol has a sweet and sour taste and is great mixed with soda or drunk straight with ice.
This delicious drink is fantastic both as an aperitif and as a digestif.
