This umeshu has a sweet, fruity flavor, and the taste of alcohol is not lingering.
Umeshu is made by soaking unripe Japanese plums in alcohol and sugar to allow the flavors to infuse. Some bottles even come with the whole plum still inside! This type of alcohol has a sweet-and-sour flavor and is excellent mixed with soda or served straight over ice.
This delicious drink is fantastic both as an aperitif and a digestif.
